Our Languedoc by rail tour, travelling by Eurostar and TGV trains, offers a taste of all the variety that this beautiful region has to offer. From our base in the delightful southern city of Montpellier the highlights include the perfectly-restored medieval citadel town of Carcassonne, Narbonne, Pezenas, Sete, the walled town of Aigues-Mortes and the Camargue.

For 2012, in response to comments from several customers, we have continued to offer an option on some specified dates to stay for 6 nights / 7 days, with a full free day in the middle of the itinerary to explore Montpellier.

DAY TO DAY ITINERARY

5-night option

Day 1:
Travel by Eurostar from St Pancras or Ebbsfleet to Lille and onwards to Montpellier by TGV. On arrival transfer on foot (about 200 metres) to Holiday Inn for 5-night stay on bed and continental breakfast basis.

Day 2: Full day tour to National Park of the Languedoc, the stunning 9th century abbey village of St Guilhem-le-Desert and the amazing Millau Viaduct, designed by Sir Norman Foster.

Day 3: Morning in Montpellier with afternoon visits to Pezenas and Sete.

Day 4: Full day tour to Carcassonne and Narbonne.

Day 5: Full day tour to Aigues-Mortes and the Camargue.

Day 6: Morning transfer to station for TGV and Eurostar back to Ebbsfleet or London St Pancras.

NB: Exact order of itinerary may vary according to local conditions and tour manager's discretion.

6-night option

Day 1: Travel by Eurostar from St Pancras or Ebbsfleet to Lille and onwards to Montpellier by TGV. On arrival transfer on foot (about 200 metres) to Holiday Inn for 6-night stay on bed and continental breakfast basis.

Day 2: Morning in Montpellier with afternoon visits to Pezenas and Sete.

Day 3: Full day tour to the stunning 9th century abbey village of St Guilhem-le-Desert and the amazing Millau Viaduct, designed by Sir Norman Foster.

Day 4 Full day to relax and explore Montpellier at your own leisure

Day 5: Full day tour to Carcassonne and Narbonne.

Day 6: Full day tour to Aigues-Mortes and the Camargue.

Day 7: Morning transfer to station for TGV and Eurostar back to Ebbsfleet or London St Pancras.

NB: Exact order of itinerary of Languedoc by train may vary according to local conditions and tour manager's discretion.

  • Return Eurostar/TGV from St Pancras or Ebbsfleet to Montpellier via Lille
  • 5 or 6 nights' accommodation in standard room on bed and buffet breakfast basis at 4-star Holiday Inn Metropole based on shared occupancy of twin room.
  • Full coach touring as detailed in the itinerary conducted by tour manager
  • Tour manager throughout

  • Single room supplement

  • Standard Premier/1st Class upgrade on Eurostar/TGV. On the Eurostar this constitutes upgraded seating and light meal with complimentary drink with upgraded seating only on the French railway leg
  • Meals other than those stated
  • Items of a personal nature such as drinks, laundry, telephone calls etc
  • Porterage and gratuities.

PLEASE NOTE: As with most trains, passengers are responsible for carrying baggage onto and off the train. Baggage can be stored on overhead shelves or at the entrance to the carriages.Trollies are available at St Pancras and Lille, but bags do need to be carried on to the platform.

PLEASE NOTE 2: Eurostar have changed their upgraded service from September 2010 from "Leisure Select" to a new service that they are branding as "Standard Premier."  This service includes the upgraded seating on the train but now includes only a cold, light meal and a drink.
